Parse error

Am receiving this error upon logging into the admin area:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in
/home/island/public_html/minicat/core/products-admin.php
on line 1

Did a search here on this forum, found a few others with the same error, but no fix info.

Any help would be appreciated.

change ftp upload to binary mode

Also, I guess I wasnt searching "answers" therefor didnt find the other thread.
